San Fran Continued...

Sunday, June 28th

Slept in and went to brunch at Sweet Maple.  Their Millionaire Bacon is worth every penny!  The meal was REALLY good, but hard on the wallet – that was our most expensive meal in SF!  We should have known when the 12-ounce can of Coke that Kacie ordered was $4.  But, everyone was a clean-plater!

On the way to brunch we got to see 2000 Post Apartments – where Owen lived with Tiffany, Kelly and John Virdin back in 1997-1998.  After Sweet Maple we checked out the Painted Ladies, the Full House house and Lyon Street steps.

We made a pit stop at Trader Joe’s for some staples for the RV and then took an Uber to Chinatown and got some dim sum (pork buns and shrimp potstickers).  Half of Chinatown was boarded up and it was very quiet.  Until we got to Good Mong Kok Bakery, and there was a line.

We noticed that at least 75% or more of the people in San Francisco wear masks even outside.  And, it wasn’t very crowded most places we went.
Met John Bonney, who came down from Marin County, for a beer while the girls “chilled” at our AirBnB.  We ordered sushi from Ace Wasabi for dinner, and it was VERY good!  Then we watched a little bit of Free Solo to get us excited for Yosemite!

Monday, June 29th

After breakfast, we met up with Jenny Brokaw, who came up from Menlo Park for a walk down to Starbucks and the marina for a quick visit.  So good to see some dear WFU friends, even though it was strange not to be able to hug them!

We packed it up and headed to the RV Rental in Newark (south of Oakland). Our Uber driver had a Kia Sorento and it was a bit challenging fitting all of our luggage and 5 people in his car, without using the front seat!  It was comforting seeing the plastic he had up between the front seat and the back seat.  And we always roll the windows down for the drive!  Makes us feel better about any potential germs being swept away!

Our RV rental was quick and painless – only slight hiccup was they didn’t have all of the items we rented for our kitchen, so he ended up giving us what they had for no charge!  We basically just needed to buy some forks and solo cups!
We hit Walmart for our big grocery run (and blankets for sleeping) and In ‘n Out Burger for lunch.  We also had to stop at Costco (Walmart, In ‘n Out and Costco were all within ¼ mile of each other) since that Walmart didn’t have meat or produce. Then it was off to Yosemite for 3 nights!
